Israel

Why do the Israelis shoot themselves in the foot when they could have won the PR battle that the Gaza Flotilla was all about. Its arrival has been known about for weeks and it would have been so easy to simply escort the boats into a port and win the PR campaign peacefully. We all know there are no real shortages in Gaza as the tunnel suppliers have made sure that life is pretty normal despite attempts to show the opposite. So what was the big deal.? Why the Macho attack which was a PR disaster.?

Netanyahu was a disaster before and still is. Israel deserves better than that

Yes there is no doubt that this was a crazy and badly executed mission and we have to assume the decision came from the top. Instead of trying to defend their actions the Israelis should put up their hands and accept it was a bungled project and seek to offer some compensation to the families of those killed and injured. At least that way they might regain some of the lost PR ground. What they should not do is to pretend that this was unavoidable. None of that needs to detract from the Hamas atrocities which get forgotten sometimes by the international press
