Apologies to our USA readers !!

Why on earth have we adopted the word” Intern ” instead of the word “Trainee”. More and more I see the word used . It means absolutely nothing whereas the word Trainee conveys exactly what it means. I assume its to try and give some importance to the poor sod who is employed to make or get coffees and teas for demanding bosses. Lets go back to good old fashioned english words instead of importing menangless words from the USA .And while we are on that subject what does “To Go” mean? What’s wrong with “Take Away” Again that says exactly what it means. I dont want” Fish and Chips to go ” I want to take them away .
