C4 Embarrassing Bodies is beyond the pale, but I felt closer to needing a bucket. Here we have street-walking doctors accosting passers by, and encouraging them to drop their Paxman-pants or undo their Bravissimo bras to show us grotesque images which they are too embarrassed to show to their own doctors. Not too embarrassed though to exhibit their obscure painful ailments and private bits and pieces to millions in exchange for a bit of Harley Street treatment no doubt. You may argue that it does a public service, but I felt like a peeping tom and cringed at the thought of how they will feel going back to work in the morning. It makes a mockery of the Hippocratic Oath and does a disservice to hard working doctors who do their best to allay their patients’ fears in the privacy of the consulting room.
